Delivery
There is a flat delivery charge based on estimated size and weight of each piece that will appear at checkout. This applies to all UK Mainland deliveries only.
Any piece that will be larger than 1m when packed will require an individual shipping quote. I will contact you by email to discuss this.
Delivery charges are inclusive of courier fees, packing materials and labour.
As I am a part-time artist and not always able to get to the studio, please allow up to 10 days before shipment. After an order is received, I will apply a clear isolation coat to protect painted pieces and once this has dried thoroughly, I will wrap and ship the piece. For UK Mainland deliveries, I use Royal Mail or ParcelForce, dependent on weight and size. Most deliveries will arrive within 2 days of shipping. If you need delivery by a specific date or expedited shipping, please contact me to see what we can arrange. This may incur an extra charge.
My studio is in Ivybridge in South Devon (PL21) and if you would prefer to collect the piece yourself or arrange a local delivery please enter the code LOCAL at checkout and I will contact you by email to arrange this.
International Delivery
If you would like to arrange international shipment, please email me to discuss whether shipment can be made to that country and what the delivery charge will be, as it will inevitably be higher than for UK Mainland. Please be aware that the shipment may incur import duties and taxes according to the laws of that country. Any additional charges such as these are the customer’s responsibility and at the customer’s expense. I have no control over these and accept no responsibility for additional charges.
I was playing around with background washes, letting the drips roll down the canvas into each other and seeing what happened. After this layer dried, as I often do when starting a new canvas, I vigorously made marks without consciously thinking about where or how I was placing them. I next applied some strokes and patches of colour that usually form the foundation of the painting's story. I liked the striking white and pink splashes and stopped work for the day. Over the next few days I looked at the canvas again and again trying to decide what to do next. The days eventually turned into weeks, and I couldn't see what it wanted. I loved the wash's drips, the vigour of the black lines and the energy of the colours. It finally occurred to me that the reason I couldn't see what to do next might be because it was finished! I'm not used to stopping at this point in my process, but for this painting, it was right. I identified with and enjoyed the painting's nature 'breaking the rules' of expectations, hence the title.
